At Contusk, we believe your context belongs to you. This Privacy Policy describes how Contusk ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information in connection with the Contusk Chrome Extension and Local Server.

1. Local-First Architecture

Contusk is architected as a "Local-First" application. This means:

• All Chat Data is Stored Locally: Your conversation history, embeddings, and context data are stored exclusively on your personal device (in a local ChromaDB instance).
• No Cloud Sync: We do not transmit your chat logs or context data to any cloud servers owned by Contusk.
• Zero Tracking: We do not track the content of your conversations.

2. Data Collection

Because the application runs locally, we collect minimal data:

• Usage Statistics: The Chrome Web Store may collect anonymous aggregated installation and usage statistics.
• LLM Interactions: When you use Contusk to paste context into a third-party AI provider (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude), that data is subject to the privacy policy of that respective provider. Contusk acts only as a bridge.

3. Permissions

The Contusk Extension requires the following permissions:

• Read/Write on AI Sites: Access to claude.ai, chatgpt.com, etc., is strictly used to read your current chat for context saving and to inject relevant memories when you request them.
• Storage: Used to save user preferences locally.

4. Open Source Transparency

Contusk is an open-source project. You can inspect our entire codebase, including how we handle data, on our GitHub repository. We hide nothing.
